Went in back to split a little wood again and was surprised to find wild strawberry blossoms. We usually find them in May. It is sad too that today we had to make a trip to Saginaw and saw lots of apple blossoms. Forecast 27 or 28 for tonight. Goodbye apples. I knew I should not have built that cider press this year....

Same up here, the apple growers are not happy. Going to be an interesting spring.

Just talked with a guy who makes Maple Syrup, because of the weather they did 1/3 of what they usually do.

A high school buddy and his father (well now deceased father -- he was the one who died while cutting wood) have a sugar house and he said (or rather his wife said) that production was very low this year.

Some areas had great runs but they had to tap way ahead of the normal time. Around here, most got about 2/3 of normal.

You might be right Gamma. However, it could easily turn the other way too. Guess we'll wait and see. Lots planned for the summer but not sure how it will go. Judy having surgery in a couple weeks and she has already had 2 surgeries; one in November and the other in February. She will need lots of recoup time for sure. It could get interesting.
