Another Garn not-smoking away

New member, but longtime voyeur. You guys really know how to entertain. Just got our Garn 2000 flushed and filled yesterday and up to "get off propane" temp today. For such a massive chunk of steel it sure is exciting to see it go. Lit last night and by the time I got door shut and grabbed a flashlight to check flue did not witness any smoke, just heat. Feels good.

Cool The garn seems to me like the perfect boiler if you have the space and coin.
Curious as to how many fills/ time it would take to go from well water temp to 180deg.

Looks like we are both new here. So hello. Anyway, the initial heat up took three burns. Two full and one reload after second was going an hour and a half. We have not completely finished everything so insulation is not yet in place. I guess outside temp, heat loads in place or not, and who is on your side determine that. Even though winter is over I am tired of seeing that dag-gone propane truck show up. So now if I can throw wood in it and the family have hot showers, all is good.

Congrats. We've been off heating for a few yrs now. nice not to hear the oil furnace pounding away. And I still am impressed by not having any smoke roll out the chimney during a burn. Have fun with your new garn.

Congratulations JP, I remember the anxiety firing for the first time……watching for smoke and LEAKS, and then finding neither. What a great feeling after all those hours of preparation and planning! Now that everything is tested, you can move forward on insulating and saving those BTUs.

Congrats, I to am burning threw the summer for DHW. Welcome to the forum. It can get pretty slow here in the summer.
