Citgo, Black Horse Pike Chesilhurst NJ

I take it that with Exxon, you get a night alone with your choice of Shania, Jessica Simpson or Kate Beckinsale.

the point of the thread is to illustrate the cheerful, philanthropic motives of a particular large petrochemical company, who just recently reported the largest quarterly profit in US history. this company continually claims that it does not set the price that its dealers charge for gas, but the dealers claim that this particular large petrochemical company, who just reported the largest quarterly profit in US history, is the one that sets the price at the pump. I'm not naming any names, mind you...

Around here I think all the gas stations are on their Nextel walkie-talkies because when one goes up or down, they all follow instantly. Price collusion?

The price of oil and gas will continue to go down until after the election in November, just like four years ago. Then it will rise, but not so soon after the election for it to be obvious.

No, but good business. A friend owns a station in town and he keeps track of the prices at all the other ones nearby. If he didn't go look, his customers are perfectly willing to tell him when he's too high or much lower. He tries to balance it so he keeps the business but doesn't give it away either - he's just looking for it to pay for the kid who mans the register right now. His real money comes from the repair business.
