This is real, he is in the Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Owner surrender because he is "blind".. he's not blind, he's 16, he's got cataracts, :mad:

The poor dog must be completely devastated. Carried my own dog up and down the stairs for two years when she became incontinent and unable to manage them anymore. Don't know how anyone could give up a dog that's been with them for so long.
 
I try not to judge ... and understand that sometimes pet "owners" have to surrender a pet for financial reasons, they're going into long term care, etc ... but something like this I cannot understand ....

On the flip side I am happy that this dog was brought to a shelter and just not driven off to the country and left to fend for itself.

Sad.
Always liked the bumper sticker,
"A pet is for life".

My dog would never leave my side, I have no intention of ever leaving his.
