I need to replace a Honeywell 4006A and am looking at a Ranco 111000 or Johnson A419. It appears both companies offer 24V and 120V models and I'm not entirely sure which route to go. Does the voltage refer to the manner in which the controller itself is powered or the voltage of the appliance being controlled? In other words, would either voltage type work with controlling a 110V circulator, and the difference being whether the controller is powered with 24V or 110V? Or is a 24V controller only intended to switch on/off 24V devices and 110V only intended for switching 110V?

Also, any recommendations between the two? Both are within the same ballpark price wise.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you've got it, the input voltage specification is the type of power it's designed to operate with; run the electronics, light the display, power the relay.

They both enjoy excellent reputations. The Johnson unit has the anti-short cycle feature and the externally controlled programmable offset option, which might be features you could take advantage of, or not.
