Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.
We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.
We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
I cut down a standing dead one earlier this year 32" dbh that the bark looked like that one. When it came down it was solid so I bucked it up and its split on the wood pile now. The only reason I cut it down was to use the stump to put minerals on it for the deer.
i would guess that it has to be either yellow birch or white (paper) birch. but we don't have paper birch around here, so I don't know that one as well.
I'm not familiar with curly birch - is that another name for paper birch?
