Hello I have the Hampton HI300 and I placed a Rutland burn indicator on the top of the insert.. Below were the burn indicator is attached is the airflow for the fan, the inch and half gap between the burn indicator and the actual fire box with the warm air being blown through that gap. My question is am I getting a true reading on the burn indicator because of the gap and the warm airflow? If not, were is an ideal spot to place the burn indicator? Thank you for your time and help.

Put it in between the stove top and mantle (in between where the warm air flows out of the stove) Mine is located up front near the door because this is where all the exhaust gases route to the stove pipe. This is the closest you'll get to an accurate reading on this stove.

You'll also need a flashlight to look at it when you want a reading. It's easy to spot the burn zone on the rutland because it has the two pins that stand out.
