Question:

We have a 1979 "Petit-Godin" wood/coal stove with a 5" smoke pipe which travels 12' before entering a 6" chimney flue at the ceiling We wish to install a catalytic combustor in place of the damper in the smoke pipe to reduce emissions.

Answer:

It will not be worth your while to install a catalytic converter in this older model. It will not function correctly since the stove was not designed from the ground up for such use. The Godin is GREAT for coal burning....which will produce little or no emissions...try that.
