Today had temps in the upper 50's all day with steady rain all day, inside temps mid 60's. Decided to get a small fire going to take the damp chillyness out if the air.
About 1/2 hour into the burn we heard this sizzling sound. I jumped up and heard it coming from the ceiling box. I removed a drop ceiling panel, and with a mirror and a flashlight saw just alittle bit of water sitting in the ceiling box. I think when the pipe at the ceiling box hit 200+F, the water simmered.
Now I need suggestions....
My guesses are either condensation (temps outside rose up about 6deg) or the rain just bounced off the roof back up into the chimney flashing, any thoughts?
