Hello,

I have a Century FW240007 and am looking to reduce the back wall and side wall clearances from the manual - as far as the clearance reduction wall covering from NFPA 12.6.2.1 (e) - 24 gauge sheet metal on 1 inch standoffs - does the minimum clearance as a wall protector apply (12 inches v.s. the unprotected rear wall at 15 inches) or does the formula in Note 2
Minimum allowable clearance = Clearance with no protectuion * ( 1 - 66 / 100)
apply?

Thanks!

NFPA is mostly used with stoves that have large clearances- like older models. Therefore, as you suggest, the LOWEST clearances allowed by those types of protection are 12".

Most modern stoves are close clearance to some extent "stock" - as yours is. In these cases, you have to look at two possibilities for further reduction:
1. The stove manual, which may address specific reductions
2. The listing on certain wall protection materials or prefab stove boards. These may state a different reduction than NFPA.

Again, NFPA is mostly for generic stoves....stoves not covered by a listing or label.
