Hello! We are installing a new wood burning stove in a house currently torn down to the studs. According to our manual, it lists clearances to combustibles, but if we do not install drywall in this area, and install durarock instead, are the clearances reduced? If not, what would be the best way to reduce clearances to the wall? Thank you!

There is no clearance reduction in this case. If cement board is put on the studs then the clearance is to the wooden studs.

This is an unshielded stove with large clearances. I didn't find a mention of a possible clearance reduction option in the manual. You would need to get written permission from Pleasant Hearth to reduce clearances using NFPA 211 wall shielding. If they approve this in writing then the clearances could be reduced to 12" with a proper, ventilated, wall shield. FWIW, there are many stoves on the market that have much tighter clearances. For example, the affordable True North TN20 has side shielding and a clearance of 12" side and back. This can be further reduced by connecting the stove with double-wall stove pipe.
