Got one plugged it in with the same rabbit ears and it worked great. We even get a few more channels than before.

We've had similar results. Our kitchen tv converter is just connected to a simple dipole made of antenna wire. The reception is great, even with the Bellingham station close to 80 miles north. We have the Zenith converter on that TV and I can strongly recommend it. It's a very strong receiver. We have a second unit, a Tivax unit. It's ok, but the Zenith unit is definitely a class better. My wife is a happy camper. She's getting many more channels more clearly than before.
