    Question:

What is a good type or types of chimney cap to use on a brick chimney using a wood-burning stove insert? One that will keep out most of the rain and also eliminate- or at least not be prone to- DOWNDRAFTS on windy days.

    Answer:

Most all standard chimney caps can help with certain downdrafts. Vacu-Staks - made by a company called ICP, also claims to be specially designed to help with wind-related problems.

Another new option is are flue extensions which can work in numerous ways to improve your draft and avoid downdrafts. A link to Extend-A-Flue is also below.
