    I wanted to put something down on my wood floor to keep it from getting scratched be the hearth i am building. i was Just wondering if i could put the drolet ceramic wool blanket under the hearth to protect the wood floor finish and also for the insulating value?

    Asuming that the hearth is already the right r-value..I bought a pack of stick on felt and put it on mine.

    The insulation coverage should be in the hearth itself. A large pack of stick on felts evenly placed will protect just fine.
