Was out splitting some of the Dead Ash that I bucked up and came across this guy. Good Riddance.

I find those I all kinds of different wood. Not just ash. Don't know what they are. Throw them out for the birds or mice to eat

See them in old.pine and oak all the time. The wrens love them. When I'm splitting I throw all of them in one place, aka the wren restaurant.

Yeah, I see them mainly under the bark in red oak, I try to save them up and put them on a small piece of bark set on the perch of the sunflower seed bird feeder, the lucky birds get a real upgrade from having to hammer open a sunflower seed, plus they have to be more energy dense than a seed.
