Still continuing to get a good friend ahead. Banged out 4.5 cut and split today. For now in a huge pile at friend's house. This is sandy damage in a local community, and I simply asked permission and got the ok to "take as much as I'd like" * I dont think they know that they just unleashed the wood beast inside me!

Now that looks like a place where some fun cutting & splitting could be happening :)
Can be pretty selective on the rounds too. (no crotches) ;)

It was a fun spot. Easily accessible with 2 trucks, splitter etc. Tomorrow or later in the week, will re attack this pile, enjoying strapping some of these big boys to skid down. I'll be taking all of the red oak, hope to get another 3 cords for myself that will finish '15-'16 supply!

That sure is a nice mixture of wood. The Cherry is doing the trick for us at the moment, 76 downstairs (we heat from the basement) 72 upstairs.

Wow, there's a lot of stickers on that ram. Be careful and don't read them while splitting.

    Nice pile.

Ive burned about 95% cherry so far this year. Gona miss it next year as I have very little in next years stacks. But do have locust and mulberry along with lots of soft maple. That spread you have to cut from is awesome.

We're using some locust in both stoves (have a stick of locust and some silver maple out in the NZ3000 fireplace right now, and it's almost 84 out there!), I want to get it good and warm out there, I was scrubbing the stones off tonight and they need to dry out again.

Great score, WS......you just can't beat a deal like that (unless the owner was to come out and cut, split, and haul it away for you!);)

I am drooling looking at that mess of wood. 4 1/2 cords cut & split is a heck of a days work. Good Job!

I'd get all you can while the getting is good. Pile up 50 cords of logs if you can, then cut and split when the free wood supply has run out. It will never be easier to get free wood.

Don't think I would go wishing for that, I found I don't need a disaster to find scrounges. Just look around and start asking.

I don't think Pat has to go very far to find all he needs. But I won't agree with him on the hurricane!
