Q&A fireplace mantel - What is it made from?

we just tore down a filthy river rock facing and wall that was done by prior owner. i want to just have a mantel and small surround. HELP where do we buy these?????? We can do the work, need the ,materials, and Santa Barbara is vast wasteland........



Answer:

Mantels are simply made of high grade wood, which is available at any lumberyard. They have catalogs of millwork which contain the nicer moldings and higher grade stuff.
