Quick question about the flame height on my Big E. Do I set the damper so the flame is tall and wide and dances around, or do I set the damper more so the flame stands straight up but is shorter (more like a torch)? Right now on setting 3 I have the damper about halfway out, and the flame is dancing around. It's been running like that for about 12 hours, and there is some soot buildup on the door. If I set the damper so the flame is more straight up, will that keep the glass cleaner (and a cleaner burning flame?)

Thanks again!

Level #1 have it all the way in or just a thread or two out.

Anything else you need to find a happy medium. Not the blow torch but not the lazy dancing flame.
