A couple guys at work brought me some fresh cut honey locust for my "ammo dump" on the back road at my work. That stuff is HEAVY and WET! I had to split a couple 24" rounds so I didn't bust a gut lifting it. I have about 5, 5" lenths to saw up and bring home.

My stash of oak was getting funky sitting on the ground, so I sawed that up and started the process of bringing that home in my trunk. About 20 more rounds of oak to go. Then, more ash, honey locust and some maple.

Slow going in a compact car!

Yup, very heavy when fresh cut...

Let it sit for a week or so before you try splitting it. The ends will start to check, then split it down the natural splits in the wood. It'll split a lot easier that way.
