Question:

I recently purchased a home which has a lovely fireplace and gas log. I am curious about how much money I am literally 'burning up' as I use the log...which I love. How would I figure this out?

Answer:

Depends on the BTU of the log and whether you have natural gas or LP. Typical use:

Natural gas - 70,000 BTU/Hour might cost $.40 to .50 per hour

LP about double that....
