Question:

We recently added a sunroom on our house. It has a cathedral ceiling which is 13 ft at its peak. The room size is 16 X 18 feet. There are three glass sliding doors and six windows. We live in Pittsburgh, PAWe would like to install a direct vent gas stove but we are confused as to what size we need. Would a stove such as the Jotul Firelight or Vermont Castings Radiance be too large? We want to be able to enjoy the look of a fire and also heat the room.

Answer:

Either will be ok for the following reason - that room loses as much heat as rooms many times it's size. Between the ceiling height, windows and exterior walls, that room should not get overheated too easily. And, you can also open to doorway to the rest of the house an spread some heat there. I think you'll be fine with either.
