    Question:

We are interested in putting in a fireplace, however, our daughter has developed asthma and we are concerned. What affect do these (pellet) stoves have on people with respiratory conditions? Please advise me of any research you know of

    Answer:

I'm a little confused because your subject is gas stoves, yet you mention Pellet Stoves in the body. A gas stove should have no affect on the condition if it is VENTED. This means a Direct Vent or B Vent Appliance. Pellet Stoves should also not be too bad, although you will have a bit of wood dust (pouring the pellets in the hopper) and some ash removal. Depends on how sensitive your daughter is. We do have some customers with the same type of conditions who purchased both Pellet and Gas stoves and were happy with their choices.
