Question:

1. Our fireplace is the usual contractor installed box with both mesh curtains and glass doors. When burning wood should the glass door be left open or closed?
2. Your opinion of "play" logs (Amberglow etc) used for effect only -not necessarily for heat (we are in Florida).
3. Can you tell us what they are made from and should the glass doors be closed when burning them? Thanks.

Answer:

1. Usually- the doors are open when the fire is burning well- and closed when it is going out or very low.
2. They are fine in an open Fireplace- but not good in a sealed stove. Treat them the same as regular wood..as above
3. Most are made from sawdust- bark- certain papers and wax or the like.
