First post, but thanks for the great info I’ve found already!
Currently looking for my first wood stove (2020+) but was gifted an older unit that appears to be a Tempwood II. It was purchased around 1979-1980 and had been used as a supplemental source in the basement of my stepfathers house until the mid-late 90s.
It appears to have been over-fired and is quite warped on all 4 sides above the bricks. The area circled in red (right front) is separated ~dime thickness, likely do to warping.
- I don’t want to use this in the house - but can this be repaired? Is it worth it?
- Also, is it missing fire bricks or are the upper (warped/white colored outside) areas suppose to have exposed steel?
