Has anyone made or seen a homemade ash collector like the Ash Arrestor? They are generally box shaped and attatch to the vent outside the house. I would like to make one, but dont know exactly how they work. I burn both corn and pelletts.

Is this a joke?????

Are we talking about a "Spark Bucket" again......

Where's SlickPlant????????????????

I knew it had more than one function, just trying to minimize fly ash, soot etc. Didnt really know how the Arrestor worked. Or whats in the guts of the thing.
Wood Porn dosnt seem to be to friendly. So maybee someone else can offer some helpful information. Ive seen home made ones on E-bay, but nothing there at this time. Thanks.

Wood Porn is very friendly... Its an old joke...

Read this.... https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/27591/

I have a Pellet sifter... Sifts my Fines out, my Quad does not like Fines...

Ash.... I use a Shop vac with a HEPA Filter and a Fine Filtration Bag.. No Dust. No Mess. Every vac says that the ashes should be cool/warm.. No ash Vac is rated for hot coals. just so you know..

Make sure to read the entire thread. It is funny..

Includes:

Crevice Tool

Brush Tool

Stove Cleaning Hose

Filter Package

2F22

Includes:

1-Primary Filter

1-Secondary Filter

Primary Filter: Made of a flame resistant fiberglass material. If any hot ash gets sucked into the vacuum, the fiberglass will not start on fire.

Secondary Filter: Made from a high quality material that will filter even the finest ash. Without any ash passing the motors means a longer life on the vacuum.

This is what im looking for without spending 300 bucks. I have very limited vent clearance for this third stove vent. I cant vent up very high or far out from the exterior wall. My siding will be black soon without some kind of arresting/filtering. Hopefully with eneough air flow as not to cause lazy burn and black glass.

Golden Grain 1101, 2004. Treager.

What stove is this for... ??? Put your stove/stoves in your Signature.. Its at the top of the screen. Much easier to ask for help when people know what you have?

Have you looked into the Leafblower trick?? Or the Soot-eater or Lint-Eater??? Worrying about your vent?? What does the Manuf say to do?? If an Englander? It needs a Vert rise..

Third stove vent???

What are the 3 stoves?? I let you see mine?? (Signature) Lets see yours?

rackem,

I suspect that the 9000 is basically a metal shroud that goes over the vent pipe and it stops the wind from blowing soot back onto the house siding. If it is large enough and is vented enough it shouldn't impede the vents air flow. It looks like they have placed a drawer in the device to catch the ash that gets blown out during stove shutdowns and startups.

It will act as a spark bucket, wind shield, and siding shield.

I kind of thought thats all the pretty thing might be. Basically a vented metal box, with nothing special inside except an ash pan. Simple, but could help with siding stains and outside ash build up. If I make one it will be stick welded and ground down, not a trash can.. lol... Thanks.

LOL! not all the way through yet. but the "use a spark bucket to catch them so you can use them later" comment is priceless.

Sorry Rackem...
I've used your legitimate question for my own entertainment purposes!!! You, (in time if you hang out here long enough) will be catching on to these little tid bits of comedic gold!!

Again, my apologies for coming off as "unfriendly"
