How Can I tell the age of this stove?

I did manage to find a little black intrepid that looks to be in good shape on Kijiji. I understand, though, that there was a period when the VC stoves were not so good. How would I tell the timeframe of the stove?

The seller provided the number A680428C from the "backplate" and here is the link

Beautiful Intrepid manufactured between 1983 and 1987. Grab it you won't be sorry, though I don't know if $800.00 CAN is a good deal or not. Here, $800.00 US would be for one fully restored or in AWESOME condition.

Only if the stove is in GREAT condition would I consider $600 USD. They are going to have to budge on that price unless it is what you want and need.
