How do you get your Oslo stovetop to 600 degrees?

Forgive me for I dont have a Oslo but this is what works in the Summit which I have had trouble getting to 600 in the past.
From a cold stove I can get to 600 in a half an hour with a lincoln log style fire, at the half an hour point I can adjust the primary air all the way shut and if you dont start backing the air off quick enough you are headed toward 800. This however disposes of wood in a hurry but it warms the house up in a hurry when I need it.
