My stove's owners manual says to clean and inspect the chimney every 50 or so fires. If I never let it go out, does that count as one?

The manual recommendation is a general guide. Each loading is a new fire. Frequency of cleaning depends on the stove design, how it is run, the flue system temp, and the dryness of the wood burned. The Quad is a tube-secondary stove and will burn cleanly, but if it is burning marginal wood and vented out the wall into an exterior chimney system it may need more frequent cleaning and inspection. When in doubt, check once per each cord burned.
