Nonsense, silver maple is a fine wood. I have no idea why it gets such a bad rap. I admit it wasn't my favorite wood before the BK but with the BK it provides nice 24 hour burns in the shoulder season and I could use it all winter long if I needed to. I rank it even with Cherry, most people love burning Cherry.

Have to agree here. I don't have a BK but still burn a lot of soft maple and love it.
