I got some scrounge today and then whoa!! I got some scrounge today and then whoa!! I got some scrounge today and then whoa!!
In the 8 years I’ve been primarily heating with wood I’ve never had to buy any of it but this last year I moved from a large home to a smaller easier to manage place so I fell behind on my usually easy scrounge up here so today I pulled the trigger on a grapple load of red oak that I’ll burn around 2020/2021 or so. It run me $950 for 12 cords- that comes out to 80 bucks a cord delivered, not bad I figure. I also got some scrounge wood today, a smaller elm that the power company dropped. I asked the homeowner if I could take it and he said sure then said I could take 3 more of the same size and species. It’s all easy to get to so I won’t charge anything but the firewood I can take. I’ll leave some wood porn here for your amusement, enjoy!

Do you have a way to pull the top logs off that stack? I wouldn't want to cut that high.

Dont be silly, you cut from the bottom and run like hell when the top logs roll down, all part of the workout :).

Can't go wrong with prices like that. Here in SE CT a 7-8 cord tri-axe load goes for 800.
