I have a maul in my garage but I use my XL cracker much more often. Everything I have has been hand carried out of the woods so it is mostly 5" or less diameter.
I split all my wood with this, am I a madman?

Wow Ammin, that must be tough. I split 4x4 thru mine and that's hard as it is, but I really like it too.I put about 1-2 cords of hardwood (almond) through this kindling cracker XL a year for my winter fires. I get the wood for free (family has an almond ranch) and split nearly all of it. I had the smaller one before, I was still able to put big logs through it but they would often get jammed and stuck. I use a 6lb hand sledge.
