Stopped to see the gentleman today. 436 cords this year, 464 last year, 515 the year before. $70 per face cord delivered up to a certain distance. $60 or $65 if picked up. And the wires do hold the poles at the ends of the stacks together. I borrowed the idea from him. That's my firewood cutting shack on the right.

Holy cow! I hope he has some kind of firewood processor, though even stacking all that wood is a ton of work!

No sir, he turns 77 this year. Cuts it all by hand and splits with a hydraulic splitter. I should have snapped a pic of him today. Very spry gentleman, small build, big mustache!

Sorry I took so long to answer this but I was busy. The guy called me for 3 more cord and it is a long drive up there.

ROFLMAO X 10  :) That's too funny Dennis. Uh...... unless you were serious? A C

On the way to my woodlot is this place. He clears it out every year and starts over. In his 70's too.
Boy, that's pretty!
But...huge splits (some Oak,) no air flow, sold in less than a year? It's fireplace wood.

If he split it half the size it would take him twice as long.
+1 on the serious wood porn... ;-P

I'm guessing it's much less than that, he's in Michigan that number is for "face" cords if I had to bet. Either way it would still be 140+ cords of wood, still a silly amount!

Woody, the picture on the right is of my woodlot. The shack is for staying overnight. I drive past the firewood guys house on the way to my property. You can see the end of my firewood piles in that picture so I thought I'd throw it in. Capisce?

That is truly amazing!! So he burns all that wood, or does he sell it? I can't imagine what he is heating if he only processes for himself.

Hey Pat, about 20 miles South of Marquette on 41. Where are you?

Bill in the U.P.

Bill, is that also deer camp?

No kidding... I'll just be happy if I'm not wearing Depends and getting around on a Rascal!

Yes. Lots of deer around. 6 or 7 nice bearing apple trees. Slowly improving the property.
