this is the second time the igniter broke on my Herman XXV pallet stove, Its less that a year old
and now the dealer is charging to come a fix it! they don't call it labor they say it is a "SERVICE CALL"
so it is not part of the Warranty, does every dealer does this?

Welcome to the board.

The stove is under a mechanical warranty for 3 years.
Yes a dealer can charge you a service call for warranty repairs. You have the option of taking the unit to him. I know an XXV is heavy, very heavy.
If you look at the back cover of your owner's manual in the 6th paragraph it tells you what to expect.
Do you have the stove on a surge protector?

Harman is the correct spelling
The XXV is a pellet stove not a pallet stoves.

Theres been a few Harman ignitor issues. Yes, a dealer can charge a travel fee, as even on warranted units, its not included. Far as I know, the ignitor, even replaced ones, are warranted for 1 year after the change, but not 3. For example, say yuor ignitor goes on year 1 of your stove. It gets replaced. That doesnt start a new warrantee for 3 years on that part......just one year. So, if the ignitor fails again, in say, 6 months, the part itself should be warranted, but the travel to, and from, your place might not be....thats up to the dealer, I guess.

Some ignitors have been failing prematurely, and some of the replacement ignitors are of the same batch, and also fail. Again, if less than a year old, they should be warranted, part-wise. Now, probably improtant to note here, is, that if the dealer gets there and the ignitor is fine, but dirty, you can expect to pay a service fee of whatever the dealer normally charges, and that might be pretty significant. So, please make sure the stove is clean, and in fact, the ignitor has failed prior to having the dealer come out. there have been instances where owners have just had dirty stoves, the dealer comes out, determines its a dirty stove, and the owner has refused to pay for the service call. Once this happens, the dealer doesnt have to service the unit again, until the previous call is taken care of.
