A friend of mine just bought a pellet stove to replace her wood stove in the basement, she wants to me to look at it when it is delivered the ? she was told she can vent it directly into the chimney like the wood stove is with an adapter that will make the existing stove pipe a 3" pipe? it is a 4 year old house so the chimney is in good shape but being a chalet log home there is no way it is worth lining a flue that is as tall as it is

All important aspect is to check if the installation complies with local building codes and meets the requirements of your friend's home insurance company

Thanks for the Quick reply, building codes here are how close to the property line you can have a building or a septic tank that's it no inspection needed for anything else
