Question:

We are interested in installing a pellet stove in our basement, but we are unsure if it can be done, because we would have to use 90's in the vent and don't know if that is advisable. Any information you could give us would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:

The beauty of a pellet stove is that they use a power vent concept, in which an exhaust fan pushes out the products of combustion through the vent and out of the home. Therefore, elbows are acceptable. The amount of elbows acceptable in an installation will depend on the brand and model.

Best bet is to look at the brands you like, and review their installation requirements. Then, discuss this with the local retailer to see how it will work for you.
