My question is.....since we have an interior fireplace.....would you guys still suggest insulating around the insert ?
I have a block off plate with 2" rockwool above it......thoughts ????

Like jetsam said it isn't nessecary. But if you want fast heat out of the stove insulation will help some. If you want softer slower heat no insulation is better. Use of the blower will change that as well

Thanx for the input....I'll be leavin it alone.
I have made all my updates that i needed to do before this winter.
Added 3 ft. to chimney...

Put sealer on the chimney crown...

What's with the fire grate inside the stove? Most wood stoves/inserts you would just build the fire directly on the firebrick floor. It maximizes your firebox size that way, as well.

Maybe it is off-season aesthetics.
