    Question:

I am considering installing a gas (LP) stove. My question is: Will a gas stove be more efficient and less expensive to use as compared to a gas forced air unit (again LP gas). Further information: The stove would be used to heat the same areas as the forced air unit. The forced air unit is approximately 10 years old. Thank you. - Jon

    Answer:

Stoves are very efficient, however they are not tested and designed for the same 24 hour per day duty cycle as a furnace. IN addition, ductwork from a furnace does a better job of spreading the heat from the heat source. A stove should be used in addition to a furnace, not instead of one.
