Yesterday I replaced a VC Resolute Acclaim with a Quadrafire Isle Royal. I seems odd that the Isle Royale operating instructions do not mention using a stove-top thermometer.
With the Resolute Acclaim, I am used to keeping the damper open until temperatures reach a certain threshold, then closing the damper to put the stove into secondary burn mode. With the Isle Royale, it seems the baffle with the burn tubes is only raised to top load wood. Do you have any recommendations on the usefulness of monitoring griddle temperatures on the Isle Royale?
