I've just moved into a place with an old Jotul 1, unfortunately the baffle plate is in bits and needs replaced. Does anyone know if this is a relatively easy process? I've found a spare for around £60 but have no experience with stove maintenance.

Also, how important is the baffle plate on a stove like this?

    Any help/insights welcome.

Welcome Martin. The baffle is very important. It dramatically improves the heat output and efficiency of the stove. I haven't replaced a baffle on this model, but it looks like it might just drop in place.
