  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.

Wood is wood--I take it all. Except rot wood. Since I have to purchase the bulk of my fuel, any freebies are welcome.

It just depends......sometimes I have so much scrounge to pick from, that I get to select what I am willing to take. Other times, I will have free time and there is just nothing to get. Feast or famine. If it is a feast time, I pick what's best.

I grill with my chunks
We built an outdoor firepit and I made a grate to go over it just so we could cook steaks and burgers over a wood fire. An added bonus is that the kids love cooking marshmallows over the coals.
