Hi,

I'm looking for a mid-sized cast iron stove that has a nice finished back for placement in the middle of a room. Something that looks good from 360 degrees. Most stoves seem to have ugly sheet metal in back. It's hard to even find pics online.
Some of the Hearthstone stoves look like they might be OK ???
Any others? Preferably with NO visible sheet metal... like an antique but new.
Thanks...

Most cast stoves have a rear heat shield standard. It can be removed in your type of application. I would pick out the stoves you find most desirable then go to the dealer and ask if you can see the back of the stove with the heat shield removed.

A lot of Iron stoves come with a heat shield installed from the factory. This covers the unfinished back of the stove, so removing it won't be an option on many of them. Jotul stoves are pretty nice. The Castine,(F-400) would be a nice choice. It has a nautical theme with some nice detail on the back. If you go with an enamel finish, Jotul even enamels the back of there stoves.
