It's time to replace my Old Mill 80 with something a little nicer, and the old lady would like a glass door for viewing purposes. Wood is free, have approx. 1.5-2 cords of 2 year oak. Budget is around $650 or so, much more than that I cant justify the cost as house is electrically efficient. Will need a 6 inch top exit flue, as I my stove pipe already has 180 deg. of bend.

Stove is located in basement, approx. 1000 SF. Upper level of house is 1000 SF, and is heated via pellet stove. If I can keep the wood stove fired daily and maintain temperate conditions, house stays relatively warm and can reduce pellet intake and use. Below is what I am looking at, couple used, one new.

Jotul 3. Pros: classic, proven, looks the best IMO. Cons: smaller, it is used.

Unknown, need help identifying. Pros: cheapest, good sized viewing pane. Cons: dont know brand, looks dated.

Regency F2400M. Pros: quality brand, somewhat new, blower, priced right. Cons: bricks look old

Englander 1800SF model. Pros: comes with blower, larger glass door, warranty. Cons: quality not as high

Hi Za, It looks like the Jotul 3 is an older unit, with the L handle front door. I do like and think it is a blue black enamel finish. I'd still pass on this one. Its the smallest of these stoves too. The 2nd one looks like a US stove model, I think for the price its not bad. The Regency is a fine stove and its over 2000 with the blower nowadays and the new Englander. For the money, I think the Englander or Regency is the best value, espec for a basement. The Jotul would be my last placer, cause I don't thinks its a 3CB, the latest version of the 3. That US stove for 350 is prob a pretty good deal too. I'd go new if it were me. Good luck..

I agree, the Jotul is out. I also believe you are correct in #2 being a US Stove. I think I will try and stop to check out the two, since they're in the same town. Look at castings, any welds, brick, baffles, etc. Could always make an offer and see what they say. For a well maintained used stove, I am willing to save $2-300. I also came across this new post yesterday, quadra-fire.
