I'm buying a insert for my house, my brick fireplace has a steel housing inside and the damper is rotted away, what are my options for installing the insert, how to vent into the chiminey?

you will need to line it to the top with a stainless steel liner and insulation assuming that your fireplace is in good enough condition to install it in.
