I have a Majestic MBU36 fireplace insert. My plan is to cut a hole in the front two faces of the metal surround and replace it with vented metal faces so that I can install a blower in this fireplace. My question is this:

Is the Majestic MBU36 the same (structurally) as the the MBUC36? Would there be a problem with retrofitting vented metal faces onto the existing metal faces for me to use a blower?

Here's a link to the manual... http://www.manualslib.com/manual/920123/Majestic-Mbu36.html

Your unit is not an insert. It is a Zero Clearance wood burning fireplace.
It is not designed to be a Circulating unit. It is designed to be a Radiant unit.
If you modify the box in ANY way, 1) you will void any warranties &
2) you may be putting your home & your family at risk, by possibly
compromising the integrity & strength of the design.
Solid fuel products are designed & tested to meet strict standards.
I'd advise you NOT to attempt any modifications.

Thank you for this clarification; I'll leave it the way it is. So it is different on the internals when compared to the MBUC36, I assume?

Yes. The entire box is made out of sheet metal & it's pretty thin gage.
The structural supports are built into the components & in order to create
a passage for airflow across the small heat exchanger in the circulating boxes,
the bracing has to be entirely different. If you want heat, that ZC box you have
needs to be replaced with something that is airtight & designed for heating...

Very informative. Thank you for your time!
