Hi....Just bought a house which was built in 1989 and it has a Mendota Hearth Wood Burning Fireplace Stove (so says the Chimney Inspector). He didn't know anything about it but cleaned the chimney and advised that I should not start a fire until I have reviewed the instructions for it. We contacted the previous owners and they have no instructions. Does anyone know anything about Mendota Hearth Wood Burning Fireplace Stoves? (I see a Mendota Hearth but it appears they only make gas stoves now.) The reason why I believe it is a Mendota Hearth product is the cement back plate has Mendota Hearth molded into it. I saw no other marking when I looked it over. Thanks in advance for any help.....

The Wood Hearth was one of their first units. They quit making it about the same time Johnson Gas bought them. Not sure any one there even knows about it. We had one on burning display but never even sold one. Nice heater tiny firebox.
