Just curious?
Why isn't anyone offering a modern, EPA pot belly stove.
I cut my teeth on a vintage model at age 19 (a long time ago...) and agree they are not very safe or efficient, but they sure look good, and are easier to load.

I think the efficiency thing is the main one. There are new EPA exempt ones for sale last time I checked. I used to have on in the cabin, while it was a nice stove to run, the 4 inch splits and small firebox were a pain. I think it's a much better stove for coal.

Thanks Matt.

I've seen the new non EPA models, but wondered why they don't make one that is EPA compliant.
Maybe just not enough call for it.

Cool stove. I wonder how much ash it holds. I'd be afraid of a split falling out.

Maybe... could be cost also. It may be hard to configure what is needed to make it clean.
