The spruce branches are so green that if I don't line up that sweet spot on the Fiskar, it won't pop and split at all.

The top picture with the meter is maple. The bottom piece that I think you are referring to is sycamore.
 
i had some box elder measure at 93% the other day. i'm curious of a week with it being in direct sun what is measures now....
