I'm replacing the door gasket on my nc13. The new one is shaped like an oval. Does it go on flat on on edge??????? On edge it fits the groove better.

Gotta get it done. House is being heated by the evil steel box in the basement that gets it's power from underground lines.

Thanks
Charlie

You know the saying... "if the shoe fits"... OK it's not a shoe but why would you cram it into the groove and have less loft to the gasket? It will compress to fit the space.

Thanks,

Kinda my fault for rushing a tad. The gasket was a little mis shaped from being on the spool. With a few "strokes" and it worked it self more round. The Dremel works great to clean out the groove also. I used the small wire brush bit.

You might want to run a coarser grindstone through the groove for the cement to have something to grab. You don't want it to be polished too smooth.

I thought the cement required some time to cure?

Rutland cement said "allow to dry for 1 hour then heat to cure". I just got to firing it up so it set for 2 before heat. I wanted to inspect the chimney while is was cold. Chinmey X 2 look real good. Only minimal powder in both. Next check late Jan.
