I did a self install of my Harman Advance a couple weeks ago. This is my first pellet stove, but I was a bit disappointed in the heat it was putting out. I thought there should be more, a lot more. There is a caveat to this. When the dealer ordered the stove, they missed the fact the "trim" kit is required. It's required because the knob to open and close the hopper also seals it.
I did not know I needed to seal the hopper, and never saw it spelled out here. But there were several mentions of door and ash gaskets and I thought to myself, I have a third gasket, that isn't sealing. I put a 15lb dumbbell on it and the flame immediately improved. The heat output has substantially increased and I'm much relieved that the output is more in line with what I expected.
Thanks to everyone who contributes here as they got me thinking on the right track.
