The 3450 only handles 14". The 20" was for the T6 which became my wife's root canal this morning.

I have used top, side, and front loading. I find top loading the easiest (and cleanest, no ash falls out from a top loader) for packing the stove full. Also, grab a pair of welding gloves and stop burning yourself. I have yet to burn myself on any of the three stoves I have.

Agreed, I find top loading the best as well for the reasons you mentioned.
